Wednesday February 9th was a Great Day

Wednesday wasn’t really much different than any other day but it was a Great Day. It started with a meeting of the Carroll County Ministerial Association, a group of ministers that I really enjoy being around. We are able to laugh and talk about things that maybe only ministers would understand. It helps you to know that you are not the only person facing what you are facing. We had a really stress relieving time of fellowship and we started the planning of the Holy Week Services, something that we all love.

Misty and the boys came and had lunch with me at the office and I love seeing my family. Wednesday was a long day, 12 hours at the office or in the work that I do so it was great to see them mid day. Samuel has become so attached that he cries when he gets up and I am already gone to work.

I met with a concerned church member to discuss issues that we have for the ministries of 1st Hillsville/OOTBWC and it was good to sit and talk about our concerns. I am praying that above all we work together for the building of the Kingdom of God.

I went to youth at OOTB and we had 43 awesome people show up to study the bible, our topic for a few weeks is heaven. The subject struck a chord as Greg said, the youth didn’t want to stop talking about our future home and our eternal lives. This is always one of the high times of my work. The youth are hungry to learn and they love God, they are growing and that is a compliment to anyones ministry. They have genuine questions and the joy I see in their faces is priceless. I am looking forward to discovering heaven with them.

Then to top it off I came home and just relaxed with Misty and the boys. Samuel always wants to play Curious George Games on the computer or watch Scooby Doo cartoons and yes Monster Trucks. Samuel and Judah were so excited when I walked in the door, Misty too. lol

By the way, I received a voice mail from Holston Conference Board of Ordained Ministry that I have been recommended to be Ordianed in June 2011 at Annual Conference and I am so excited. I have worked toward this, I have had so many meetings, turned in hundreds of pages of written material about theological issues and my call, and waited quite some time for this honor.

Why is it an honor? It is an honor because the church, starting with my local church, First Hillsville UMC has said we see and discern God’s call on your life and now the Holston Conference has said we discern and see God’s call on your life, so much so that we are going to Ordain you. I can’t wait.

It was a great day, Wednesday February 9th, 2011.

I am, as always, sooooooooo proud to call you my Christian Brother! I thank our Lord for the day – the race – the conversation that we had before, during and after that race! Many years have passed and many blessing have covered our friendship. Thanks again for keeping that window of fellowship open! I look forward to the day that we can have fellowship again ‘face to face’ and run together again!
