Book Notes: Unleash by Perry Noble

This is a book that I will recommend to almost anyone, especially those who want no-nonsense, down to earth, just plain truth. I was thinking after reading this book that I read a lot and many times books are made up of a lot of fluff and a little bit of substance. Not this book, this one is made up of almost total substance.

If you know Perry and his ministry, you know that he is a guy who just says it like it is and lots of times people get mad. I always say, “You will know the truth and the truth will make you mad.” I don’t always like the way Perry says things, there are times when I say to myself, “I wouldn’t have said that the same way Perry just said it.” That’s why I like Perry, he is a man of God who is helping change the world and not too worried about what others think of his way of doing it.

This is a book that you can recommend to your friends who do not have a relationship with Christ, especially if they are searching for the truth. It is a book that doesn’t use big theological words, anyone can read it and be blessed. Perry shares a lot of stories from his life and that helps us to know him a lot better and where he comes from in his teaching style. The book is built around the life of David and how God used a man. That’s right a man, not a super hero, not a perfect person, just a man, loved of God, who also loved God. You and I can learn and grow with the aid of this new book by Perry Noble.

Here are a few of my favorite quotes from the book.

“If God, the Creator of the universe, created us on purpose, with a purpose, and for a purpose, then why in the world would we be willing to settle for anything less?”

“God has called each one of us to embrace life, not merely to endure it.”

“The point I find especially intriguing about this story is that David wasn’t out looking to do something great. He woke up one morning, and everything was normal. But in the span of one day, the entire course of his life changed.”

“Once we’ve shown up at the dance, we have a choice to make: are we going to stand against the wall, watching other people bust moves, or are we going to get out there on the dance floor ourselves?

“God hasn’t called His people to stand along the wall as spectators. He wants us to participate with Him in what He is already doing in the world.”

“We forget that God isn’t looking for a great performance from us; He’s looking for us to embrace our position as His children.”
