Be A World Changer, Get Involved With The Problem!

This is a shocking photograph but it is one that we need to see. This is an actual picture that was taken by photographer Kevin Carter in 1994 in Sudan.

The picture depicts a famine stricken child crawling towards a United Nations food camp, located a kilometer away.

The vulture is waiting for the child to die so that it can eat the child. This picture shocked the whole world. No one knows what happened to the child, including the photographer who left the place as soon as the photograph was taken.

The following is what is said by some to have happened: Kevin later confided to friends that he wished he had intervened. Journalists at the time were warned never to touch famine victims for fear of disease. Three months later, and only weeks after being bestowed with the Pulitzer Prize, Kevin Carter committed suicide.

Here is the report from NPR News: “Haunted by the horrific images from Sudan, Carter committed suicide in 1994 soon after receiving the award”.

What is my point in showing you this photo? My point is that we are in a situation in this Great Country in which we live to help those who are hurting and many times just like this story, we do nothing.  Many times we cannot see the devastation that awaits the person that we choose not to help.

What if we could see the end result of a kid gone bad because we didn’t intervene?  What if we could see the fires of hell that would consume a lost person?

What if we could see the end result of the actions we don’t take every day?

In this picture we can see the obvious and in the Bible we can see the obvious end result of a life lived without Jesus as Lord and Savior.

I have seent his picture before – but every time I see it my heart breaks. Our pets live better than this child… We look through our cabinets and complain there is nothing to eat when they literally don’t have anything to eat! We are blessed beyond measure, Thank You Lord.
