Speak Up Now

We Shall Not Be Moved

Patrick Henry once said “It cannot be emphasized too strongly or too often that this great nation was not founded by religionist, but by Christians; not on religions, but on the Gospel of Jesus Christ. For this very reason people of other faiths have been afforded asylum, prosperity and freedom to worship here.” Other religions have the right to worship here, however just because they are offended by what we were founded upon doesn’t give them the right to take away our constitutional freedoms.

Now the very name that has brought safety to this Nation since it was founded is under attack once again. We understand by a directive from the Virginia State Police Colonel the chaplains can no longer pray in the name of Jesus in a public venue. This brings deep concerns when the state police leaders bow to the fear of a possible complaint because their chaplains pray in the name of Jesus. It is the personal conviction that makes these men and women sacrifice their time and emotions to pray and help those who have been searching for comfort. We are tired of hearing that if you mention or pray in the name of Jesus that you have violated someone’s first amendment right. In fact it is our first amendment right to express our faith as our convictions lead us to express. If I am an employee of the state it doesn’t mean I have no constitutional rights. As an American citizen our constitutional rights follow us wherever we go and much blood has been spilled to guarantee these rights. However this decision is a much deeper attack than that, it is an effort to separate Jesus and state not church and state. I for one will stand until the fight is victorious because my Bible tells me when all I know to do is stand then stand.

The first amendment forbids Congress from creating a law to establish an official religion and guarantees the right to all men to express their religious beliefs according to the dictates of conscious. The separation of church and state is no where in the constitution and was a letter from Jefferson to the Danbury Baptist suggesting that the state should never be allowed to run the church. This situation at hand is dealing with a state entity that is not a law making body and this decision is violating the chaplain’s personal constitutional freedom of expression.

We are asking Colonel Flaherty to reconsider his decision and abandon this attack on the Christian faith. Our chaplains should have the right to pray according to the dictates of their conscious not as instructed by their superiors. As Christians we stand firm in our faith that the name of Jesus will not be banned from the words of our mouths and the meditations of our hearts. We asked that you honor our God given rights as Americans in Jesus name I pray.

I sent off a letter to the VSP today expressing my extreme dismay for what I take as an attack on Christians with his new “edict”. I believe that all it takes for the bad in this world to spread is for nobody to do anything about it. All it takes is for good people to do nothing, and the bad win. Its time we took BACK our country from every group of people – all extreme minorities in their beliefs – who have taken away our right to practice OUR CHRISTIAN faith in public. This extends beyond standing up in our church and speaking out, no, it extends out into the community where we must stand up and speak out at town council meetings, at county commissioner meetings, we must speak through our votes against those who would make our great nation even MORE Godless and MORE anti-Christ in its attitudes, its laws and its customs.
I made mention of the fact that the state police should no longer accept payment in the currency of the United States of America because IT bears the phrase “IN GOD WE TRUST” on it. If God is not good enough to pray to, then He certainly is too good for them to accept money bearing His name and the pledge of our trust.
Write letters to your state representatives, to the state police, and to your local government officials expressing YOUR desire for this country to return to the beliefs that it was founded on.
