I started the day on Tuesday with one of those feelings that I just wanted to go to Walmart. That is just the truth. I was having one of those days when I was just down and if you were around me long you could probably tell. Then I went to our district clergy meeting and my DS shared this prayer from John Wesley and revival started. Life is difficult to say the least, every day is filled with new adventure as well as those who like to spread glue on the skating rink floor, we just have to put glue removal on the wheels of the skates and go full speed ahead.
The Covenant Prayer of John Wesley (1703–1791)
I am no longer my own, but thine.
Put me to what thou wilt, rank me with whom thou wilt.
Put me to doing, put me to suffering.
Let me be employed for thee or laid aside for thee,
exalted for thee or brought low for thee.
Let me be full, let me be empty.
Let me have all things, let me have nothing.
I freely and heartily yield all things to thy pleasure and disposal.
And now, O glorious and blessed God, Father, Son and Holy Spirit,
thou art mine, and I am thine.
So be it.
And the covenant which I have made on earth,
let it be ratified in heaven.
Amen.
This prayer says it all. Who am I to complain. Take what God has given you to do and do it to the absolute best of your ability and when God says move on then do it. There may come a day that God will allow me to go to Walmart.
