Treasuring God’s Truth in Your Heart
Here is a list of fifty-two Bible passages to memorize—one for each week of the year.
Memorization plants God’s truth in your heart, giving you nourishment for your soul, encouragement for your faith, and defense against temptation.
As you get started, a few tips could help.
First, make a plan. If you don’t make a commitment, it probably won’t happen.
Second, a partner can keep you on track.
Third, pray about it.
And finally, try the following method:
(1) on the first day, read the passage aloud ten times, then say it ten times without looking;
(2) on the second day, repeat it ten times, looking only if you have to;
(3) repeat the verse at least once daily for the rest of the week; and
(4) use the same format each week, also repeating each previously memorized verse once daily.
