This first year event is one of a kind. The Turkey Strut 5K is not just a 5K. This race takes place on Thanksgiving Day morning. It features a USATF Certified 5K course and a 1 mile fun run/walk. Finally you don’t have to sit around the house all day waiting for the turkey to finish baking. Place that turkey in the oven and come join the fun in Downtown Winston-Salem.
The race will begin and end near the Fleet Feet Sports store off Reynolda Dr. The course runs through beautiful neighborhoods near Downtown Winston-Salem and through Hanes Park. Given that the course is USATF Certified, final run times will go toward state and national records.
This event allows local participants to get out of the house while the turkey is cooking. There is no point in staying in, get out and enjoy the day before you stuff yourself with a Thanksgiving meal!
This event will help participants prepare for the Thanksgiving Meal. The more you run the more calories you will burn, and the hungrier you will be. It’s a win-win situation. Bring your family and out-of-town guests for a great start to the Thanksgiving moring.
The awards are very unique for this event. Turkeys will be given to the Top 3 Overall Male & Female and Top 3 Overall Masters Male & Female.
All pre-registered participants will receive dry-fit shirts. If you register on race day you will not be guaranteed a shirt!
