My 3rd Marathon: Country Music Marathon Nashville

We ran this one in 2003

As they all are, this was a memorable race because it was one of my favorite but it was the most I had ever run without walking. I ran the first 17 miles, all the time thinking that I should stop and use the bathroom but feeling so good that I didn’t want to break stride. I was on target for under 4 hours and decided to stop for the bathroom and when I did, my legs started to cramp terribly. I could see the muscles spasming and it was a real struggle for about 5 miles. I was able to run the last few but in pain.

Our son Michael ran this one as well as two good friends, Tim Lewis, Director of Joy Ranch and Rick Karamptsos who just released his first book, “Headed toward the final finish line”.
