Our opening speaker made the statement he had to get on a plane at 6am in the morning so he just wanted to get a runner on 1st base, however Tyrone Gordon hit one out of the park.
Title of the Message: “Who said you could do it that way”?
Text: Acts Chapter 4
Setting: Peter and John are in trouble for preaching and healing on the authority of Jesus.
Here are a few of the highlights and the entire sermon was a highlight.
“Most of current Christianity is Just Talk” Tyrone Gordon
Peter and John had just healed a man and the people wanted to know who said they could do it that way.
As long as we preach a prosperity, feel good gospel everything is fine. But start speaking out about the status quo, start speaking out about immorality, start speaking out about injusticece and stuff starts to hit the fan.
This is just what Peter and John were experiencing in this text.
Some people find something wrong with everything, opposition will come. If you are going to do great things for God, get ready the opposition is coming.
“It is time we started asking these folks who act this way, “Who said you could act this way”? Where is your action or way of acting found in the Discipline? It is time we start asking the questions of the ones who want to stand against the gospel being shared.
You have the authority of Jesus to do it that way! Jesus said to share the gospel and baptize people. You have a mandate and the authority to do it.
We do not need to fear people. If God be for you, who can be against you?
Opposition always mounts when there is change on the horizon.
The devil is a liar and he can’t stop what God has started.
We must learn not to fear opposition because it will come.
We do not need other peoples permission to do what God has told us to do.
This ain’t your church, Jesus said, “On this rock I will build MY Church and the gates of hell will not prevail against it.
I could never do justice to Tyrone’s message for tonight but it lit a new fire under my soul and I intend to share the flame.
