Get rid of the church sign!

I am really tired of church signs that have cheesy slogans. For the sake of not offending everybody I will not quote any of them but lets be honest. If the church is making a difference in the community, you don’t need a sign to attract people. the greatest advertising on the planet is word of mouth, satisfied customers!

The worst thing in my opinion is to put out a sign that promotes something the church never leaves the building to accomplish.

We spend a lot of time, energy and money on stuff that doesn’t matter. Let’s change our communities!

Some church signs make people think in a way that they may not have before. Last year the Hillsville Christian Church sign USED QUOTES that the TEENS from the intermediate school made up. So, the teens were telling kids to look at the sign. If we can get a kid to read a church sign with a quote about God on it, and then TALK about it, then hooray for God! That was thier testimony! I think that if a sign gets someone to THINK about God then it’s a good thing. 🙂

Laura’s work for these children is amazing and I love how they have changed her life, and ours, through building a bridge from Hillsville to Nicaragua, a bridge connecting hearts through love. Go God!

Sometimes the church signs do more to drive people away, rather than attract them. A few years back, for example, a local church had a prominent sign that read, “Fun’s over; time for church.”

This was right after the New Years holiday. Message was clear: fun is unChristian and church is not fun.
