sexualized

Here is a quote from Kevin Roose in “The Unlikely Disciple”

“So, yes, most Liberty students take abstinence seriously. But here’s the confusing part; while Liberty isn’t a sexual place in the same way most college campuses are, it’s certainly sexualized. Liberty girls might be virgins and they might not wear two-piece bathing suits to the pool, but they do wear thigh hugging jeans, clingy blouses and dresses that leave some but not all, to the imagination”.

he book is written by a journalist from Brown University who decides rather than studying in Europe, he wants to study the Christian Culture at Liberty University. Let me say up front that Kevin is very complimentary to Liberty and the students there. However this statement is one that needs to be addressed.

Ladies, teens and adults alike. Please take note of what Kevin is saying here. You are beautiful from the inside out and you do not need to dress to impress the men. We areĀ  supposed to be different as Christians. Not different “weird” but different in a refreshing way. One of the biggest problems in our world is lust and the mis-use of sex. Please dress modestly, so as not to make others commit sin.

Guys are not off the hook on this one. So many of the guys think the greatest thing you have to offer the opposite sex is a nice body. It is evident by the fact that so many profile pictures are guys without shirts. Trust me, put your shirts on. God has so much more invested in you.

The world is watching to see if we are different. Not weird but different!

    Ronnie,
There are so many things that I could say about where we find ourselves in the world today. On the issue of dress for women, my wife and I have discussed it at great length. It seems that many women(Christian women) included do not know how they are effecting men by their dress. I don’t know if they know what they are doing or if they are so caught in the fashions of the world that they don’t care. I know that there is temptation all around. I have tried to remember Pauls words in I Corinthians 9:27 “I fight to bring my body under subjection.”
