There must be more to life than news, weather, sports, and ordinary religion.
“There must be more to life than taking the kids to soccer practice, washing dishes, meeting deadlines, devouring fast foods on your way to another meeting , and ending up so drained that you wonder if you’ll have the strength or the guts to make it through another day. And the harsh beat goes on until you’re beaten to the ground.”
“Whispering through the noise, Jesus is saying, “My child, there is a better way. I will give you rest, trust and obey.”
“When we are willing just to obey the biblical call to prayer and fasting, we will receive a fresh set of eyes. We will begin to see much more that God wants to do with us and through us.”
Ronnie W. Floyd in the Power of Prayer and Fasting
I am just finishing up day 6 of fasting and praying. I am convinced more than ever that God has called us to this and we are missing so many of the rich blessings of God because of it. God is speaking to me through scripture like never before, in new and different ways. God is doing things that I have been praying or mostly fretting over for years now. Just today God did a miracle in our church that I can’t even talk about just yet. We had two great services today at 1st Hillsville. Michael Harmon was baptized and before the camp lunch was over I was made aware of 2 more people who desire to be baptized on or before Pentecost Sunday and one more who wants to join the church. Tonight I found out another who wants their child baptized. I was contacted by a clergy friend who has 4 desiring baptism and membership at her church and then this evening I received an e-mail from a youth leader in a sister church who has a burden to reach lost youth. I am hearing from churches around Holston Conference where people are coming to the altar desiring baptism and church membership. Revival has been in the air for some time and I believe we are feeling the wind of The Holy Spirit at this moment. God is about to make history and maybe this will be the last great revival before His return. Even so, Lord come quickly.
For some reason I almost feel guilty. I honestly sound like a broken record but I haven’t been hungry yet. Then I read over the past couple of days that Jesus doesn’t appear to have been hungry until the 40 days of fasting and temptation were over.
Matthew 4: 1-2
Then Jesus was led by the Spirit into the desert to be tempted by the devil. 2After fasting forty days and forty nights, he was hungry.
I am still drinking lots of water and still would love to eat, but the desire to see 3000 saved is stronger than my desire to eat. I am reminded again that I often eat and say I wish I hadn’t eaten. Well I’m not eating for a while and I know that my is going to be changed forever.
