40/50/90/3000 Devotional: Day 17- March 11th, 2010

Day 17 – March 11, 2010

“This may be the generation of which God has chosen to evangelize the world”

“We need a vision of the living Lord high and lifted up in order to see those near us. We have speed
in the realm of the physical, but there are no shortcuts to the growing of a saint. It takes the daily
discipline of practicing His presence. We have effected labor-saving devices until we believe we can
eliminate spiritual disciplines.” (Prophetic Evangelist: The Living Legacy of Harry Denman, 1993)
But you are a chosen people, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, a people belonging to God, that you may
declare the praises of him who called you out of darkness into his wonderful light. Once you were not a
people, but now you are the people of God; once you had not received mercy, but now you have received
mercy. (1 Peter 2:9-10)

There is a quote from the movie Superman I would like to share with you. Clark Kent’s father said this to
him, “Son, you were put here for a reason, and it was not to score touchdowns.” Have you figured out
your reason? We are clearly told that God has much more planned for us than the “normal way.” I, as a
youth, am always being told how we are the future church, future leaders of God, we are the future. The
truth is, we are now! Where does it say, “But you are chosen tomorrow”? The plans that God has in store
for us aren’t down the road, but are right in front of us.

Webster’s Dictionary defines evangelism as: the winning or revival of personal commitments to Christ.
Now most people think of speaking and preachers when they see the word evangelism, but there is so
much to that word. Professing one’s faith in God can be done in so many different ways such as music,
poetry, and writing. And God has chosen you to do something! The possibilities don’t stop there!
Anything from missionaries to working in your small local church are ways God could use you to bring
others to Him! It is unreal, the things you can do when you have been called by God! I have been blessed
to get my calling to be a preacher at a very early age’ and I plan to use that to the fullest of my abilities!

The impacts you can make on others lives are unnumbered with the calling God has given you.
We have all been chosen to make a difference, to change the world, to change lives. We have a
responsibility to do just that. Youth should be honored by this calling a whole group has gotten. We
should never let it down and never take it lightly. The power God has given us is unimaginable, and the
impact as well! But just remember 1 Timothy 4:12: “Don’t let anyone look down on you because you are
young, but set an example for the believers in speech, in life, in love, in faith and in purity.” No matter
you age, God can and will use you. No matter what!

Prayer: Lord, help the youth of today to change the world. Amen.
