“Get Connected”

Romans 12:5 GWT

In the same way, even though we are many individuals, Christ makes us one body and individuals who are connectedto each other.

The Department of Mental Health has found that those who isolate themselves from others, those who are not connected to a group.

You are 3 times more likely to die an early death.

4 times more likely to suffer emotional burnout.

5 times more likely to be clinically depressed.

10 times more likely to be hospitalized for an emotional or mental reason.

Something inside us pushes us to connect with others. Our well-being depends on our ability to connect with other humans.

Get Connected through Healthy Relationships

1. You Need Healthy Relationships

Ecclesiastes 4:9-12 NLT, Two people are better off than one, for they can help each other succeed. 10 If one person falls, the other can reach out and help. But someone who falls alone is in real trouble. 11 Likewise, two people lying close together can keep each other warm. But how can one be warm alone? 12 A person standing alone can be attacked and defeated, but two can stand back-to-back and conquer. Three are even better, for a triple-braided cord is not easily broken.

Vs. 9 Two can accomplish more work together.

Vs. 10 They can help each other in time of need.

Vs. 11 (This is not sexual) This is emotional support.

Vs. 12 They give each other protection.

I love this verse. Have you ever heard the saying, “I’ve Got Your Back”?

Christianity is not meant to be done solo, God created us to be in community. You need me and I need you. You need your neighbor, because alone we are an easy target.

On those days when you are tired, you’ve been beat up by the cares of life, those days when satan is tempting you to come down off the wall.

Get Connected through your Gifts

2. You Need a Place Where You Can Use Your Gifts-

I Timothy 4:14 NLT, Do not neglect the spiritual gift you received through the prophecy spoken over you when the elders of the church laid their hands on you.

The indication in the Greek text here is “Stop neglecting the Spiritual Gift that was given to you.

What is your gift?

Get Connected in a place where you can Grow

3. You Need a Place Where You Can Grow-

Acts 2:42 NLT,  All the believers devoted themselves to the apostles’ teaching, and to fellowship, and to sharing in meals (including the Lord’s Supper), and to prayer.

Get Connected and Belong to something Bigger than yourself

4. You Need to Belong to Something Bigger than Yourself-

Romans 12:4-5 NLT, Just as our bodies have many parts and each part has a special function, so it is with Christ’s body. We are many parts of one body, and we all belong to each other.

Ronnie, may I have permission to use this outline for our church, which also has as it’s mission statement “Connecting People To God”?
