Genesis Chapter 2
So the heavens and the earth and everything else were created.2 By the seventh day God had finished his work, and so he rested. 3 God blessed the seventh day and made it special because on that day he rested from his work.
4 That’s how God created the heavens and the earth.
When the Lord God made the heavens and the earth, 5 no grass or plants were growing anywhere. God had not yet sent any rain, and there was no one to work the land. 6 But streams came up from the ground and watered the earth.
7 The Lord God took a handful of soil and made a man. God breathed life into the man, and the man started breathing.
What keeps your soil moist?
Think about this portion of scripture with me for a minute. In verse 4 we see that in the beginning there was God and there was dirt, then the second thing, water comes from under the soil to water the earth.
Picture this with me, we have God making mud pies.
This reminds me of the times when I was little and making mud pies. God is playing in the dirt, he is having fun, he is molding, he is creating. So, we have dirt and water. The next thing we see is breath. God’s breath is breathed into the dirt, the mud, to create a human being, woman and man. It is the breath of God that gives us life.
The dirt, the soil is also known as clay. God is the potter and we are the clay. God is having fun molding and making us into who He Created us to be. He has breathed life into us.
The thing is, we need a continual flow of breath to keep us moist, living water, one might suggest. God’s breath being breathed into us is what keeps us fresh. What is it that keeps your soil moist?
Everyone’s answer will be different. What is it that refreshes you, that renews God’s Spirit in you? Go and do that. Make it priority in your life to keep the life-giving breath of God flowing in and through you. Reading and studying His Word? Make time to do it. Quiet time to meditate and think, make time to do that. A group of people who will pray for and with you and study scripture with you, make it happen.
What keeps your soil moist?
