It’ll Never Be The Same…Thoughts on COVID19

covid19

People have asked my thoughts on “Shelter in place” and “Opening the Country back up. So here goes…
I read a lot, I pray a lot, and I have come to the following conclusion. I am more than willing to follow the guidance of the medical professionals who are helping the President’s team right now. If the shelter in place stays, I’m fine with that. If they decide to open the Country back up, I’m fine with that as well. My family and I will make the best of what we have, either way. And by the way, we are believers in Jesus and we know that no matter what comes, we have Jesus, even if we lose everything else.
Either way there is going to be a price to pay.
If we stay shut down we will struggle financially in every aspect. From the individual to the small business, big business, local, state, and national governments, every aspect of our world will suffer loss. And if we open back up the cost will likely be in loss of life. We keep hearing that 98% of those who get COVID19 make it through. 2% of our Country is still a steep loss of life. We also hear that deaths have not been as high as what we were told they would be but I absolutely believe that is because we interrupted our normal way of life. Just think what would have happened if we had continued to eat in crowded restaurants, go to sports arenas, and crowded movie theaters.

Based on what I am reading, this is not going away until we have a vaccine and that is likely to be 12-18 months out. Based on this I believe the following will likely take place.

Because people are getting restless and demanding that we be allowed to go back to “Life as Normal” we will begin to open things back up slowly. It is likely these openings will come and go. One place opens and does well for a while and illnesses begin to rise and stay in place goes back in order. I believe as this happens we will start seeing travel limited to our home area and no one leaving the Country. This way one state can be more restricted while another state can be under different and less restrictions.
I believe this is how life will be for us over the next many months. And if this is the case then life will never be the same. Am I excited about this? Yes, I am excited about life in general. Am I concerned, you better believe it. But I am not afraid.
I don’t want anyone to think that I am glad this happened, I’m not. But I am the kind of person who believes that we make lemonade out of lemons. We take what we have and we make the best of it. Life may never look the same, it may be better. We may never go back to life the way it was. The fact is, life for a lot of people in this world wasn’t great before this happened.
Here is the best suggestion that I have. Get a Bible and read it.
Find some good men and women of God to help teach you the meaning of the scripture you don’t understand and dig in. Is this the end of the world we have heard about for all of our lives and people have talked about the past 2000 years?
I don’t know and I am not afraid.
