Book Review: Church Planter

This book is not what I had hoped for at all. It reads like a Theology work rather than a book about planting churches. However, I was still able to mine some nuggets from the work. The first hurdle I had to get past is the theology of only men in church leadership. This is a part of the Acts 29 Church Planting Network, a Reformed movement that has a lot of great leaders but we definitely disagree on the theology of women in leadership. This is not a work that I would recommend but I do want to share a few of the nuggets.

“Our effectiveness in ministry depends directly on our dependence on the power of the Holy Spirit.”

“Theresa of Avila: Christ has no body on earth but yours, no hands but yours, no feet but yours. Yours are the eyes through which Christ’s compassion for the world is to look out; Yours are the feet with which He is to go about doing good; And yours are the hands with which He is to bless us now.”

“The Great Commission to Evangelize and Disciple the Church The church is a place where the lost are found by God through the clear proclamation and demonstration of the gospel. The church doesn’t just make converts; it makes disciples by teaching the church to do all that Jesus commanded.”

“In order for the Christian message to be meaningful to people it must come to them in language and categories that make sense within their particular culture and life situation. ”
