Holston Evangelism Conference 2012 – Update

For those of you who know me, you know that my passion is to introduce people to Jesus Christ. But, it doesn’t stop there, I also want those who know Jesus to live a victorious Christian life and I believe that is what Christ wants for us.

I currently serve as the Chair of The Holston Conference Witness Team. evangelism-witness Our team is praying over, planning, and putting together a dynamic Evangelism Conference for March 16th and 17th at Cokesbury Center www.cclive.org

Our guest speaker for 2012 will be David Hood from Ginghamsburg UMC in Tipp City, OH,  as the Campus Pastor of Fort McKinley Church, Ginghamsburg’s urban branch on the corner of Salem and Siebenthaler avenues in Dayton. ginghamsburg.org

The following is from an interview with “The Foundation for Evangelism” www.evangelize.org

I received my call to ministry while I was in college. I remember watching Brett Favre throw a touchdown pass and seeing the joy on his face and knowing that my career path at the time did not hold that kind of joy. After a month of prayer or more I heard God saying clearly, “on the other side of obedience is Joy” and I knew God was calling me into professional ministry. One of the greatest influences in my life and ministry has been my Dad, who is an American Baptist Pastor – most of what I know about ministry I learned from him. Other great influences include Pastor Mark Suter who hired me as his youth pastor and introduced me to the United Methodist church. Pastor Mike Slaughter has also been a huge influence in my life and ministry.

I love that the UMC is an open conversation in progress rather than a set of rules and dogma’s already established. This gives flexibility and room for grace to the denomination. I also love that the UMC’s focus on both personal holiness and social justice. It is this balance of priorities that drew me to the denomination and in my opinion positions it for effective ministry in the coming decades.

One of the keys to the success of my ministry has been an unwavering belief that if God has offered us the unlimited power of the Holy Spirit, the life example of Jesus himself and the full resources of heaven then we have no excuse for failure. As a visionary thinker I am able to see the preferred future and lead people step by step toward it.

I believe that Revival is happening in my own church 1st Hillsville UMC – Out of the Box Worship Center and I believe that Revival is ready to break loose in The United Methodist Church and across the world. People are so hungry for something that matters, something that brings lasting joy, something worth living for. Jesus is what who the world needs, even if they don’t know it.

This is why we are having the 3rd annual Evangelism Conference in Holston Conference. We believe that people want to be part of the next great revival that is about to happen, we also believe that revival comes only through persons who are sold out to God. People who are dedicated and living a Real relationship with Jesus Christ. God never brings revival through a casual Christian. God always brings revival through people who long for Him more than anything else.

I want to invite you to join us in Knoxville on March 16th and 17th, 2012. Mark your calendars now, make room reservations, start praying and asking God to gather His people for a time to network and be encouraged to come back to their local churches and work for a Revival.

I am praying for 50 people from the 1st Hillsville UMC – Out of the Box Worship Center Congregations who will go with me to Knoxville. This could be the event that changes our lives. Who will go with me?

Pastor Ronnie
