Finish Location:
Outside Turner Field, downtown Atlanta

Eligibility:
All runners who have trained for a 26.2 mile footrace for the marathon are eligible to enter. Minimum age for runners of the marathon is 18. For safety, no wheeled vehicles or wheeled means of conveyance (i.e., bikes, skates, baby joggers) are permitted in the footrace. Marathoners should be prepared to finish the race within five hours.

Dropping Out:

The Marathon course will close once runners doing a 5-hour pace have passed. Volunteers cannot be asked to wait longer. Course volunteers will assist runners who wish to drop out.

Marathon Description:

The marathon is a loop course starting at Turner Field.  The first third runs north and gradually climbs to a relatively flat middle third with the turnaround near the course’s halfway point.  There is a gradual incline from around mile 21 to 25, with the final stretch of the marathon heading slightly downhill.  All streets are multi-laned with one lane dedicated to the marathon.  Streets are not closed to traffic; however, intersections will be monitored by police and volunteers.

HALF MARATHON INFORMATION:

Start Time: 7:00 AM

Course closes: 12:30 PM

Start Location:
Peachtree Ind. Blvd. (just south of Clairmont Rd. intersection) within walking distance of Chamblee MARTA station.

Getting There:

Because of the large crowd at the half marathon, plan to arrive NO LATER THAN 6:15AM (or earlier if possible). The start & finish are located near MARTA rail stations. We STRONGLY urge runners to take MARTA to the start because of traffic congestion and limited parking in the area. (Only you can prevent gridlock.)

Half Marathon Starting Corrals:

You will be assigned a colored bib number that corresponds to one of the 5 corrals at the start of the half marathon. Look for the sign at the entrance to the corral that corresponds to your color and bib number range. You must be visibly wearing your bib number to enter your corral. If you are planning to run with another registered runner in a different corral, you are permitted to start in the slower person’s corral. You may NOT move up into a faster corral. Runners should plan on being in their starting corrals 15-20 minutes prior to the start.

Half Marathon Wave Start:

To ensure a smooth start and help reduce congestion on the course for the half marathon, the race will begin with a wave start. Runners in the first three corrals will start the race in the first wave at 7:00 a.m. For runners in the fourth and fifth corrals, the second wave of the race will start at 7:08 a.m. All runners will need to be in their corrals prior to 7:00 a.m.

Do not bring valuables. The Atlanta Track Club is not responsible for lost or damaged articles. You must use the bag we provide for the gear.
