Here is a book that I can respect and I know this may sound odd. Scott McKnight has a different understanding of fasting than any I have read in the past 29 days. It is not a good or bad understanding but it is one that I disagree with. When I started this book I almost put it aside after reading two chapters but I am glad I didn’t. After reading chapter three I found great value in most of the remainder of the book.

Scott gives a lot of historical practice in the discipline of fasting and there is so much valuable information in this one little book that I recommend it. I recommend it with a warning. Scott shares what he has received from medical professional to say that much of fasting is medically bad for us. There are no quoted instances nor any references and that makes me very skeptical of those voices.

I have read many accounts of medical professionals who practice fasting with their clients and have great success. there are many and varied opinions on this subject and here is one of them. The historical content is worth the price of this book.
