50 Intentional Days of Evangelism – My Witness for Day One

Today begins the 50 Golden Days of Evangelism in Holston Conference of The United Methodist Church. I have made a commitment over the next 50 days, starting today Sunday April 4th to make an intentional witness to at least one person. I am starting today by writing a letter to my dad. My dad is one of the most awesome people I have ever known, he is my hero.

I was not brought up in church but I was brought up to live a good, honest, hard-working life and my dad and mom are the ones who taught me. Mom and dad didn’t take us to church very often and as a matter of fact the first time I believe I was ever in church with my dad was when his mother, my grandmother, when her body died.

Anyway, my dad and I have a lot in common, sometimes it is even scary. I will do something and I will think, oh my goodness, that is my dad. However, I have never been able to talk to my dad about spiritual matters. In a recent book club we read a book called “Letters from a skeptic” and in this book a son had the same situation and he won his father to Christ by writing letters.

While fasting these past 40 days, God gave me a vision of me baptizing my dad in New River on Pentecost Sunday May 23rd. I am believing in this vision to be a sure sign from God and therefore I am writing my dad a letter just to let him know what I believe and why I believe it. I am praying that God will reveal Himself to my dad in a way He hasn’t until now and I hope you will help me pray.

Is there someone to whom you need to write a letter today?

Ronnie

USIA that is an amazing story I didn’t realize that was your story until I got to the end, I thought I was reading a letter from a missionary..I especially like the part about how you spoke on the first time you remember your dad being in church was when your grandmas body died..What an amazing revelation of what her eternal journey is and what we have to look forward to. I will pray with you that the revelation God has shown you happens soon.

Great, Ronnie. I’ll be praying for you and your witness. I had the awesome opportunity a few years ago to witness to my grandfather, who had constantly reputed the church throughout most of his 80-some years. God made the opportunity available, and I responded. My grandfather and I had a great conversation that ended with him telling me he had asked Jesus to come into his heart. He said the same thing to several of my relatives before he died. I believe the effort to drive those two hours that day was a blessing. Because today, I know he is in heaven. What a blessed thing THAT is. God bless you as you continue to lead this effort. May God add to the number day by day those who are being saved! Hallelujah!

Thanks Ronnie! In my life, it was Mom with whom I couldn’t communicate on spiritual matters. I add my prayers to those who pray for you to meet your goal, and baptize your Dad on Pentecost Sunday!
