Thoughts on Kindle

I just wanted to share some thoughts on the Kindle. As you know if you know me, I love to read. I had been interested in the Kindle for a long time but I was very skeptical about whether or not I would like it. I like to hold the actual book in my hands. Recently a good friend blessed me with a Kindle and I will admit after only a few days, I am hooked on Kindle.

Here are some of the features that I like most.

I can carry multiple books but actually only carry one Kindle. Big Plus

I can have major Newspapers delivered to my Kindle each morning for pennies a day.

I can plug it into the vehicle speakers and have Kindle read the book to me while I drive.

Books for Kindle are cheaper than print books.

When I highlight or make notes, they are saved at amazon for later use by me.

Battery life appears to be loooooonnnngggggg.

When I order a book it appears in just a few minutes, 2 to 10 minutes so far.

I think it is what the world is coming to. Print books are not going away anytime soon but maybe in the future. It is cheaper to produce and with my desire to clean out clutter, it appeals to me for freeing up space. When I travel, I typically load anywhere from 3 to 10 books that I want to read or read from and that is very cumbersome, not with the Kindle. I love to stay up to date on the latest news and here is an easy way for very little expense. I do wish there were some more local papers such as the Winston Salem Journal or the Roanoke Times and I am sure they will come on board eventually. I purchased an fm converter that I plug into the vehicle auxiliary outlet (cigarette lighter) and the books are read through the vehicle speakers. I wouldn’t do this with every book but there are some that I just don’t like to read (like Freakonomics) and having it read to me is much easier. The voice is a bit mechanical but not bad at all. You can even speed up the voice, I love that. The cost of the books is not always cheaper but every one I have bought has been. I purchased a $49 Bible for $9.99. The battery last several days as long as the wireless capability is turned off and there is no need to have it on all the time so that is not a problem.

I love it! I recommend it!
