If I had written it, we would have turned that water into Sprite

In John 8:31, Jesus said to the people who believed in him, “You are truly my disciples if you remain faithful to my teachings. 32 And you will know the truth, and the truth will set you free.”

We live in a time not completely unlike all those who have come before us. However, it seems today that more and more people are choosing to ignore the parts of the Bible they do not like. Let me see if I can give a couple of examples.

At the wedding in Cana of Galilee, Jesus turned the water into wine. I despise alcohol, I have witnessed how the effects of it can ruin individuals and families. I have seen how addictive it can be. If I had written the Bible I would have turned the water into Sprite and told the people they were to never ever drink alcohol again, period, end of story.

I have been accused of telling youth that it is OK to drink alcohol when what I said (and it is on video so you can see what I said) is that the Bible never says that a person cannot drink alcohol. The Bible says do not be drunk. I went on to say that if you are under legal drinking age it is illegal to drink. I even went so far as to say if you are old enough and still live with your parents, you obey their rules.

If it were up to me there would be no alcohol in the world but it’s not up to me, God didn’t even ask my opinion.

I often quote John 8:31-32 as “You will know the truth and the truth will make you mad” because in truth that is what often happens.

If everyone followed the teaching of the Scripture there wouldn’t be any drunk drivers. However, there would be people who still drink.

I could go on and on, let me name just a couple more while I am on the topic because this is not about alcohol at all, it is simply an example.

The Bible says the road to heaven is narrow and few go there, there really is Hell.

The Bible says that sex outside the relationship of a husband and wife is off-limits, it’s fornication, etc… This eliminates the argument of any form of sex outside that relationship. There is no need to debate with who, how, how far is too far, what if, etc…

The Word of God teaches that 10% is the tithe and it is where we should start as Christians. 10% of our increase. Bring it into the storehouse.

As for me and my house we have chosen to follow the Lord and what His Words teach. We are dedicated to study and see what exactly these words mean and not dissect them and find loop holes.

It was given to us for our good and yet we fight so hard to have our way and our ways end in destruction. Think about it.
