Team Work – Wednesday Night – Out of the Box Youth

Our topic at Youth tonight was Team Work. We had a lot of fun, playing some team work games, watching some videos of how to and how not to do team work, and then we looked at our team work with Jesus. It was a lot of fun and hopefully eye-opening.

Here is a bad example of Team Work

Here is a Good Example of Team Work

Then we looked at John 21: 1-6 NLT

1 Later, Jesus appeared again to the disciples beside the Sea of Galilee. This is how it happened. 2 Several of the disciples were there—Simon Peter, Thomas (nicknamed the Twin), Nathanael from Cana in Galilee, the sons of Zebedee, and two other disciples.  3 Simon Peter said, “I’m going fishing.”  “We’ll come, too,” they all said. So they went out in the boat, but they caught nothing all night.  4 At dawn Jesus was standing on the beach, but the disciples couldn’t see who he was. 5 He called out, “Fellows, have you caught any fish?” “No,” they replied.  6 Then he said, “Throw out your net on the right-hand side of the boat, and you’ll get some!” So they did, and they couldn’t haul in the net because there were so many fish in it.

What is this story about? If your first thought is a miracle, it may just be that the Bible you are reading says this is the “miracle catch of fish.” However, Jesus never said this was a miracle. Actually, Jesus is on the shore and if there is a school of fish that big, Jesus can see it. He simply says, hey guys, there is a large school of fish (my emphasis) throw the net right there and you have fish. You see, it is a matter of working with Jesus, it is a matter of knowing what He is saying and action on that information. So often we expect Jesus to be a magician and He isn’t. That is not who God is.

Read your Bible today and do some team work with Jesus.
