Book Review: Sifted

Sifted by Rick Lawrence

I picked this book up on Kindle because I thought it would be a good resource for an upcoming Bible Study I am going to lead called “The Unseen World.” By the way, it will serve that purpose but better still this book was a good solid read.

The book is based around the following scripture. Luke 22: 31-32

31 “Simon, Simon, Satan has asked to sift all of you as wheat. 32 But I have prayed for you, Simon, that your faith may not fail. And when you have turned back, strengthen your brothers.”

I must admit that I had often read the Book of Job and wondered if God still today allows believers to go through what Job experienced. I know that people suffer hardship and trials of all kinds but my question was, “do these things pass through the hands of God first?” Luke 22 answers this question. Jesus said to Peter, Satan has asked to sift ALL of you.

There is the answer, Satan has asked and ALL includes Christians today. Jesus goes on to say that He has prayed for ALL of us and He says that when we have stood the test and trials we have a job to do, to strengthen others.

Wow

This is a well written book, it has humor and it has stories that will bring tears. First and foremost, it is a book that Christians need to read and pay attention to. This world is a place of testing, we’re not home yet.
