My most used resource for Bible Study is Logos Bible Software, I have used for it several years and each year I learn more and more. Matter of fact I intend to get some hands on training with the software in 2012 because as you probably know, we never get 100% use from any software we purchase and I don’t even crack the surface of Logos, I need the training.
Along with Logos, they produce a magazine called “Bible Study Magazine.” It is a great read and by the way, you don’t have to use their software in order to benefit from this resource.
I always learn something new, something beneficial, and often I learn things that make me scratch my head and say, “why didn’t I already know that?”
I received the January/February 2012 issue in the mail on Saturday and I started devouring it. The following are some of the things I learned and insights that I gained.
I learned that Ravi Zacharias, attempted suicide when he was 17 years old. Why is this so great for me to learn? If you don’t know Ravi, he is one of the greatest Bible teachers of our day. He has gone around the world, now above age 60, he has taught the Bible and taught people how to defend the faith. You can google Ravi and find a multitude of information, books, and videos. Dig into them. Back to the suicide attempt. It is encouraging to be able to show people who are having such thoughts that God loves them and has a plan for their lives as well. there is hope for all of us. By the way, Ravi’s suicidal thoughts stemmed from a bad relationship with his earthly father who became a Christian before he died.
I was reminded in this issue about CBI. Crossroads Bible Institute, CBI is a ministry to prison inmates. I first found this ministry several years ago while I was in seminary. I had to do a rotation in prison ministry and due to the fact there are no large prisons near Cana, I found this ministry where I could correspond with inmates and help them with Bible Study. I have recently gained a new burden to reach out to those in jail. We have had several just lately related to our church downtown in some way who have been incarcerated. One of the things Jesus says is that when we visit those in prison, we visit Him. If you want to fulfill the mandate to visit those in prison, here is your answer, check out CBI and Pray about Getting Involved.

There is a great work in this issue on the difference in the four Gospels, Matthew, Mark, Luke, and John. They each share the life of Jesus but from different perspectives, discover those perspectives here.
Article: Purified By Fire
Have you ever wondered what Matthew meant in Matthew 3:11?
Matthew 3:11
Today’s New International Version (TNIV)
11 “I baptize you with water for repentance. But after me comes one who is more powerful than I, whose sandals I am not worthy to carry. He will baptize you with the Holy Spirit and fire.
This verse is confusing to a lot of people but there is a great biblical answer in this issue of Bible Study Magazine.
