This is a great book to start with in understanding how and what to teach in regards to giving, stewardship, and generosity. The church doesn’t have a money problem but it does have a heart problem. Jesus essentially said that a persons heart follows their money. This doesn’t mean that only rich people have a problem, a person with only a little bit of money can be hung up on trying to acquire more.
“Stewardship is more than an obligation. It’s an opportunity to witness to the reckless nature of the God who gives the gift of salvation by grace to all who will receive it.”
We serve a God who pulled out all the stops, gave us His best, with an irrevocable promise. It’s time we as Christians understand that God has been generous to us so that we may in turn be generous to others. If we have the nature of Christ, we can’t help but be generous.
Contagious is a tool to help church leadership understand what God has to say about money and the use of and giving of it. This is a great and timely tool.
