Book Notes: Misreading Scripture With Western Eyes by Randolph Richards & Brandon O’Brian

misreading scripture

No matter what Country we may be from, no matter our social status, no matter our race. We all read with cultural and other blinders. We must learn the culture in which the Bible was written in order to better understand this sacred text. This is a great book to become familiar with. There are lots of tools available these days to better understand. If you’re going to understand God better and His Word, you will have to drop your biases. By the way, we all have them.

The authors really just scratch the surface in this book but it is a great place to start. They cover several main areas of scripture interpretation such as how we view time in America compared to how time was viewed in scripture. There is a major difference in how we will read scripture when we stop reading like we have become accustomed to.

I gave the book 4 stars and I would recommend it to any serious student of the Bible.
