Day 1 of the 28 day challenge to “Make time to Pause”

Yesterday in the worship service at OOTBWC I issued an invitation and more than 200 people responded by standing to say they will spend the first 10 to 15 minutes of their day with God for the next 28 days. I truly believe if you follow through on that commitment God is going to show Himself to you in ways you have never experienced before. I believe if we do this corporately as a church that God will add tremendously to the revival that is already taking place in downtown Hillsville and through the people called Out of the Box.

Last night I actually set my alarm, something I seldom do because I naturally wake up early. I just had a hunch that because of our commitment that old satan would do all in his power to help me sleep in this morning. True to his character, he tried. I was so tired when the alarm went off I was so tired that I hit the snooze and had no idea the alarm had even gone off. I guess it was a couple minutes later that I woke up, still not realizing what had taken place but I woke up with prayer on my mind and I immediately started praying for you.

I made a cup of coffee and settled in the mancave with my Bible and my journals and this is the thought that hit me fast and hard. “God, why is it that we spend so much time talking about our troubles, so much time rehearsing them with other people, and so little time talking to the One who can change it all?”

Philippians 4:6 Do not be anxious about anything, but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known to God.

John 15:7 If you abide in me, and my words abide in you, ask whatever you wish, and it will be done for you.

Mark 11:24 Therefore I tell you, whatever you ask in prayer, believe that you have received it, and it will be yours.

Just three of the things God has to say about the value of prayer. Ask what you wish, believe, don’t spend your valuable time worrying, talking to everyone else, rehearsing your perceived problems, spend time talking to God.

We have a promise, if we ask God hears and answers. Put God to the test and don’t be flippant about it. If He answers and He will, do what He says.
