I am preparing for my sermon on Sunday morning and the message is about “Baptism.” It is the second message in a new series I am doing called “What’s The Price?” I am reading the book “Remember Who You Are” by Will Willimon for the second time in my ministry and it just gets better each time I read it. Anyway, Willimon talks about this baptismal font which is pictured above, it is at Belmont Abbey College in Gaston North Carolina. It is hewn out of a very large rock and here is the inscription that is placed on the font.
“Upon this rock, men once were sold into slavery. Now upon this rock, through the waters of Baptism, men become free children of God.”
Wow is all that I can say, this very rock was used to place slaves on when they were once being sold to the highest bidder. Now it is being used for God who is the highest bidder of our souls. Wow
